750 WORD ESSAY FOR EDITING

This clip is from a series called Mr. Robot and the editing of this scene really stands out to me it starts off with Darlene the protagonist's sister looking wearily at the time waiting for it to hit 11 you can hear the soundtrack edited in picking up the noise and creating a more tense and serious atmosphere that the heist or break-in has started we can see how each point of perspective is filmed one from the security the other Darlene and the other Elliot all of these POVS describe what is going to occur and how is it going to happen the obvious glare from Darlene at Elliot and the security guard watching Star Wars helps us understand how they may get in. They use juxtaposition really well here using the security guard as the Dilemma and Darlene as the break-in and solution she can also seduce or distract the security guard kinda like a femme fatale. We then see a clever use of POV and panning which helps us understand the guard's thoughts and impressions about Darlene. We then see Darlene fail to pass through the security gate and it suddenly cuts to Elliot showing how he is the solution to perhaps breaking into the building this is known as a JUMP CUT. Next, we see Elliot brazenly enter the building and we a smooth transtion from the CCTV to Elliot jumping the barrier and escaping into a passageway all the while the increasingly intense music picks up the pace a clever way to build tension. We see the match on an action being used brilliantly here from Elliot running to each door and dashing down the stairs we see the action being continous throughout the cuts creating this fast-paced exit into the building. The music picks up massively humming throughout the scene elliot throughout this scene is anxious and scared continuously worrying that he may be found and arrested but he doesnt get arrested. As we can see we cut to the laptop smoothly as Elliot hacks his way past the door we are met with a security control post filled with cameras and a back shot is used to show Elliot as evil and villainous. After the hacking scene, Elliot and Darlene try to leave and are found out there is a series of jump cuts like the guard jump scaring Elliot and forcing him to run away as the music hits its peak and we now see the match on action  and juxtaposition used really well here we get this throughout the clips shown and there is a slow-mo scene to really shove us into an intense and nervous filled atmosphere that is exemplified by the cops and Darlene we then get a jump cut to Elliot after Darlene's lucky escape we the constant use of match on action which further increases the pace and action of the scene then there's the use of a montage or quite similarly to one where Elliot runs through the streets of New York and its attractions via the ice skate or the Park we see Elliot run through them as he is closely followed by the police and match on action  is used then there is the use of continuous shots  as we see Elliot escape through the city and the impact and damage this chase has had on him. He is closely followed through the scene as he is chased by the police and wee each and every time we see that he has escaped more cops come and surround each time further adding tension and nervousness to the scene which makes the audience worried and scared Elliot as he may be caught we finally get to the last moments of the scene where the match on action picks up and Elliot gets faster and faster due to the police on his tail we then see Elliot suddenly get hit by a car followed by a jump cut which frightens the audience and the music stops which may make the audience feel as if maybe Elliots is finished however the music picks up and we Elliot give one final push and bit of energy as the scene and the music climaxes and Elliot jumps off the railing escaping the cops and entering Darlenes car as they ride off we also notice how there's been no dialogue at all an excellent awesome detail that without dialogue they've created such a heavy and scary and that is what Mr Robot excels at
